re: NOLA Radio Station 690am is being sold

Damn this sucks. I listen to the Sport's Hangover almost everyday at work.

That being said, I will NOT miss Kaare Johnson commercials: "FAIR AND HONEST LUCAS AND THE BOYSSSS!"

Kaare's commercials have always been annoying, I hate how he Segues into them mid-sentence. But, I'll take him any day over the rest.

One thing about Kaare, he is a loyal person. He will not endorse something or have something played in his show that he doesn't actually use himself. It's not all about the money with the guy. Just like Condon.

re: NOLA Radio Station 690am is being sold

I have not listened to Kaare since fall of 2008 when he did a two-and a half pike into the tank for Obama. And once he did, there was no rational dialogue with him after that. None. I had listened to Kaare on and off, since he appeared on Saints' Radio WGSO in 1992 with "the aaaaaaaaaaaaanalyst" Russell Protti.

He had political ideas worthy of discussion, and was somewhat "faaaaaaaaaair and obJECTIVE" but not near as much as he claimed to be. If you have to constantly declaim how "fair and obJECTIVE" you are, I believe you are actually covering and hiding your bias. The worthy ideas were the locals. When it comes to national, he has no. freaking. clue.

His father, Phil Johnson was a reporter who made his name covering the war in Vietnam in the 1960s. He came home to WWL and was made news director, and from that position he became a daily political commentator, with an editorial every night at the end of the WWL News. His was the longest running TV editorial in the nation, and the LAST TV editorial in the nation.

Buddy Diliberto was beloved in this town because he was honest, and despite his speech disability, was an intelligent man. He made his name as a writer for one of the local papers when we still had three of them. In later years he wrote for the Archdiocesan-owned Clarion Herald. He KNEW the English language and how to use it, but had trouble speaking. But he made his bones and people respected it.

IN the early 1970s he was kicked-off the team plane by the Saints for being critical of the organization.

Deke, on the other hand, only has a journalism degree from LSU ;)

Looks like Larry Holder was slick, and left WIST before the walls could come down....on the other hand, Shawn Alexander is a pretty well known name in sports. I don't think that he would move back from ATL unless there was something solid in NOLA.

At least we know that Joe Cardossi will be fine...funny and can work a control board.

He's a damn nice guy if you ever meet him in person. I personally like his show, though I don't get to listen very often. Different strokes, I guess.

Well now I know not to ever trust your thoughts on anything. I guess I would just laugh you off about Kaare, but now that you have mentioned Condon, well you are either a dumbass or a troll.

Damn it. I was hoping this thread was bumped to say the deal fell through and the format was staying the same.

I do feel bad for the new guy who just moved here for the Hangover. I mean wtf? That is just a terrible thing to do to this guy.

Oh and idk if Holder had a heads up or what but he would probably have taken the promotion regardless imo.

Still kinda upset about this news.

Guess he got tired of working with Gus. Funny thing most of those guys all were on 870. Kaare, Gus and Kenny Wilkerson, although Wilkerson has been gone for a few years now.
