I find it shocking that JJ ever started over JL. I guess I shouldn't go there - but I did.

Really?? Why? Even as a JLee supporter throughout 2008, I don't think there is any doubt JJ should have started in 2009, especially after the Peach Bowl performance. And JJ actually played pretty well in 2009. 2010 is where he started to regress.

I think JL sitting through 2009 was the best thing that ever happened to him. He needed to be pulled out of the fire after Crowton continually screwed him over by calling the same plays week after week that he couldn't execute. It should have been clear to anyone that he was at the breaking point going into that Ole Miss game, and the idiot fans booing him all game and then cheering when he got hurt (almost certainly the same idiots who booed JJ this year) would have further destroyed his psyche if he hadn't been given a chance to sit and reflect and learn from his RS freshman experiences.

Saying it's SHOCKING that JJ ever started over JL is pretty much revisionist history IMO.

20 years from now if some one looks at the stat lines for the two players and then they see who was the starter they will really be shocked.
both completed roughly the same amount of passes, threw about the same amount of INTs, Jefferson attempted more passes, Lee had a higher completion pct., Lee threw for more TDs, Jefferson had the edge in yardage, Lee's EFF rating was better. Points per game on offense was better with Lee.
Lee biggest obstacle was the 2008 season, after that Miles and Crowton seemed to lose confidence in him and he never really got it back. I would have like to see the same time and effort put into developing Lee that was afforded to Jefferson. Providing Lee can make the final roster with SD we may get to see him develop as a QB with Norv Turner.
