Somehow, I just stumbled onto this video while watching highlights of the Tenn game last year.

Check out this throw at 1:25. Freaking beast. Also check out the throw at 1:05 too. Falling down and still flicks it off his wrist for 20 yards.

Anyone who says this guy wasn't the most talented LSU QB ever is full of shite.

"Anyone who says this guy wasn't the most talented LSU QB ever is full of shite."

JR was amazingly pysically talented, but this statement is far too strong because Bert Jones played for LSU. Jones played at LSU before my time but I did see him in the NFL and his arm talent was insane. While not as big as JR, Jones was plenty big and a better overall athlete. Who was more talented? I don't know but no one is "full of shite" if they choose the guy who won an NFL MVP and whose physical capabilities have been compared favorably to John Elway's.

Observations on that video

1. Helluva game... awesome 4th-and-9 conversion with 2:13 left. Doucet was more pumped after that than he was catching the game-winning TD.

2. The players seemed to have more fun after big plays. Many of those celebrations would get a 15-yard penalty today. Sad.

3. Jamarcus had an absolute cannon for an arm.

4. How about Moo St beating Bama on the ticker? Shows you how much things can change in 6 years.

5. I forgot how much we used to turn the ball over.

That was not his best game. He was still extremely talented.

No one ever said he didn't have talent.

I still remember him wearing a lime green suit to the Manning Passing Academy.

I would like to take veryone back to 2005. To our 'home' game after the hurricane vs ASU.

Think about everything our school and state was going through. Then, on 4th down and 10, with 1:23 left on the clock... well; just watch the shite already!

Easily the most talented ever. Talent wise we will never see anybody with as much potential.

Not sure if someone said this already, but the biggest issue with JR was that he relied way too much on pure talent and never learned the small details of being a great QB.

Most of us have never questioned his talent and I personally think he is head and shoulders in talent above any LSU QB to date. This is precisely the problem as he did the least with his talent and is not the most successful QB even though he had such an edge in talent.

He couldn't perform a simple out pattern properly (timing and rhythm) but could improvise and make the spectacular play look easy. If he would have put his whole game together, he would have been unstoppable, but he just never did and always fell back to talent alone. This does not usually fly in the NFL and he was badly exposed.

Lots of elite talents end up struggling in some aspects due to being allowed to skate by in one aspect or another and for him it included an on the field item.

I was at that game - a lot colder than it was supposed to be. It was closer than it should've because they were playing with a backup, but what a game and ending... classic Miles drama.
