The Night's King was the 13th lord commander of the NW. That is without a doubt him on the show with the crown like head. Old Nan told Bran the nights king story. She said some believe he was a Bolton, a Magnar of Skagos, an Umber, a Flint, a Norrey, or a Woodfoot. However, she says the Night's King was a Stark and brother to the King in the North and she makes reference to his name being Brandon

I know that the Nights King was most likely a Stark (who was defeated by the King of Winter, Brandon the Breaker).
But the crackpot theory is that all of the Others are really dead Starks. That can't be the case since Bran the Builder (the first Stark), built the Wall at the end of the Long Night (and thus after the Others first attacked Westeros).
