I read that post the other day.
The thing is, why didn't people just end a leper's suffering back in the day? Instead they were just sent off to colonies. Greyscale is just ASOIAF world's version of leprosy.
And is he saying all the stuff in his long paragraph didn't happen in our world? With leprosy being around? Because to me it all just seems exactly parallel with what would have happened in the middle ages.

So about stonemen.,.
Does greyscale actually make you heavier? I thought it just was like leprosy, made your skin nasty and fricked with your mind in late stages. But apparently you kinda sink to the bottom of the river/cant swim real well?
