At this point, Littlefinger is actively planning to take over Winterfell using Sansa as his ultimate pawn. I think that he and Sansa make it to Winterfell only to have Sansa kill him there in the "castle made of snow".

That's definitely possible. But there could be a possibility that Sansa escapes him/runs away perhaps (while she's still in the Vale)?
