Going through a re-read, and I have to ask: What the frick was Cersei thinking making Janos Slynt the Lord of Harrenhall? Slynt is a oaf, incompetent, and does nothing for them in the Riverlands but likely spike more rebellion. Janos didn't do jack shite but be bribed, but at least Littlefinger legitimately saved King's Landing from Stannis. Littlefinger also has actual friends and connections from the Riverlands, so his appointment makes sense, but putting Slynt there is absolutely retarded.

Because of this:

Cersei is batshit crazy, and a sociopath, as evidence in all of the books, particularly AFFC-present. Like she has any reasoning skills that a rational ruler would have . To be honest, I'm shocked that she wasn't removed from power sooner. I wonder, if Tywin would've lived (and Joffrey still dead), if he would've sent Cersei back to the Rock or still try to marry her off.

Tywin approved of Tyrion sending him to the Wall, FWIW. Janos had no business getting Harrenhall, and it's cursed anyway. I'm counting down for Littlefinger and Roose Bolton to die since the Lord of Harrenhall title is cursed.

Honestly, I think Tywin was planning on shipping her back to the Rock as soon as the Wedding was finished. Tywin knew he had to let Cersei be there for the wedding and the unexpected trial, so he delayed her likely planned removal. If Tywin had lived to the present, he would have for sure sent her back to the Rock after the clusterfrick of raising Joffrey.

He would have still tried to marry her off from a distance, but I think that the only child that Tywin really realized what she was was Cersei. He knew she had to leave Joffrey and the realm behind, or they were doomed. It was really the decision listed above that I'm sure destroyed his opinion of Cersei, and he wasn't about to let her anywhere near power again.

And Slynt was lucky that it was Tyrion who came down and not Tywin, because Tywin would have probably just killed him off instead of sending him to the Wall.
