One thing I've wondered is if Dragonsteel is really the same thing as Valyrian steel? The Long Night should have predated Valyria by a few thousand years, and Westeros didn't even have regular steel until the Andals came. I suppose they could have made it independently, or they just mistranslated it.

In the Last Hero version, "his sword froze so hard the blade snapped when he tried to use it," and then something happens with the children of the forrest that hasn't been revealed in the books, and then he ends up slaying others with a "Dragonsteel" blade.

With AA, the blade breaks in water, and in the lion, and then it takes Nissa Nissa to turn it into Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes.

The North version and the Asshai version both involve:
1. sword breaks
2. stuff happens
3. New sword that slays Others

Not really sure where I'm going with this, just thought it was interesting.

I'm leaning towards thinking that we're past step 1 (with Ice being "broken"), now its just a matter of time before the sword gets fixed and the Other slaying begins.

What about Blackfyre?

My bet that the blade will make it's way to Dany somehow...
