I thought it was. Leaves lil doubt where Lil Lord Fauntleroy was coming up w gold other than Lannister. I don't think he was an agent for the IB - but he used their coin to foster fiscal chaos for sure.
Surely the IB has more in mind to recover the debt besides backing Stannis...
I was impressed w the reddit quote/ Blackfyre Varys thy. I always thought Martin used D&E to intro BR, but the whole rebellion/ Great Bastards arc sure seems to be intended for future reference to me.
In D&E, they were referred to as "pretenders" often. Mummer= actor = pretender, and dragon was synonymous with Targaryen. So it's pretty obvious this is another way to say "The Blackfyre's Targaryen"
Just more subtle support.
Seems to me dark flame means the same as black fire too, either multiple meanings or just one with a red herring.
