Horn of Joramun (eta: Mance's horn that was burned)
Black, and "huge, eight feet along the curve and so wide at the mouth that he could have put his arm inside up to the elbow. If this came from an aurochs, it was the biggest that ever lived. At first he thought the bands around it were bronze, but when he moved closer he realized they were gold. Old gold, more brown than yellow, and graven with runes."
Horn from the Fist - old warhorn, made from an auroch’s horn and banded in bronze.
Note that the horn that was burned was banded in gold, while the Horn from the Fist is banded in bronze… The First Men used bronze. Also, the description of the horn reminds me of the description of Euron's dragon horn (listed below). Could the horn that was burned be a dragon horn? From the ship that came from Asshai that had the red silk that was sown in Mance's cloak? However, I don't think a dragon horn can burn, unless it was just an illusion from Mel to make everyone think it was burned.
Some other thoughts on Joramun
Joramun was a King-Beyond-the-Wall who tried to invade the realm. Yet, Joruman allies with the Stark of Winterfell to take down the Night's King. This kind of parallels Mance trying to move south of the Wall, then allying with the NW (Jon) to fight against the Others. Or could Stannis be today's Night's King?
There also isn't much to be said about the whole "waking giants from the earth." I mean, it's never mentioned in the Night's King story.
I read a cool theory that Joramun could have been the one who was awarded Bear Island for helping the Stark of Winterfell. Joramun, Jorah, Jeor. Their culture of warrior females is also similar to the wildlings spearwives. I also read another theory that Tormund, Husband to Bears, could have been one of the Mormont's lovers. So there may be a Mormont/Wildling connection there.
Euron's Dragon Horn
The horn he blew was shiny black and twisted, and taller than a man as he held it with both hands. It was bound about with bands of red gold and dark steel, incised with ancient Valyrian glyphs that seemed to glow redly as the sound swelled.
Dragon Horn - Black, twisted, taller than a man, bands of red gold and dark steel, Valyrian glyphs
Supposed Horn of Joramun - Black, eight feet, wide at the mouth, old gold, runes
IIRC, dragon bones are black
I'll post my thoughts on the other horns in my next post. I never noticed the Horn of Herrock, but it's black and twisted with gold bands similar to the dragon horn.

quote:auroch's horns aren't eight feet long unless we're talking about some huge ancient breed of them similar to dire wolf/wolf

Could the horn that was burned be a dragon horn?
quote:Tormund definitely thinks so
unless it was just an illusion from Mel to make everyone think it was burned.
quote:i agree but i can't help but think that Jon will be allied with the Others, not fight against them.
