Yea he's admitted to it in interviews and I agree with him it's hard to imagine Robb, Jon and Arya doing the things they do at their book ages. I always mentally pictured them at their HBO ages even before it aired.
Just seems more feasible

Got my official A Feast of Ice and Fire Cookbook today. There may be lemon cakes in the near future.
