Here is a link to the 2011 Song of the Year

Has anyone ever entered this before? I did once... didn't win though. I'm working on some new stuff, and will likely make an entry for 2012. Anyone with me? Up for collaboration?

The song that won last year isn't that great... doesn't make me want to pursue this even if I was a good songwriter

Exactly. It's 20 grand if you win.

I write songs and play 'em on acoustic guitar. One guy, one instrument, one voice. If you know much about this contest, here's my question: would my format stand a chance, or is this for slicker music?

At $30 I'm inclined to enter. Just wondering if my style of music fits at all.

Yes you stand a chance. It's less about the talent/production, and more about the arrangement/songwriting. That said, you should be able to record something that you won't have trouble discerning.

Cool, thanks.
