Test drove a surface drive this weekend and will be buying one this week... Looking at all the options and I am stuck on whether I should buy with the clutch or avoid the clutch.
What does the OB say?

I've had both, and I prefer to have neutral.
I'd love reverse, too. Just don't have it.

Never would I buy one with out a clutch. I doubt I could buy one without reverse.

Same here, the one I have now, I won in a raffle.

I was concerned with the greater chance of mechanical failure due to having a clutch. The one I test drove did have a clutch and it was definitely a nice addition. Would be very helpful when picking up decoys, trolling crab traps, froggin etc.
I think clutch will be my choice.

I ran the Go Devils for a long time, and I've seen to many people get thrown when the prop hits the water unintentionaly, myself included. Plus its a pain at the launch trying to manuveur around boats while picking up and lowering motor.
We run several Prodrives at Co. camp. The manual reverse does get old if your stuck vs the hydraulic one, but we've been blowing those switches pretty often. The push buttom clutch is money around the dock and picking up decoys.
