I give it a thumbs up. Got a little kick though, for you or a youth?

As a primitive weapon, prolly the best round made.
As for regular rifle season, still not a bad round. I prefer something with a little more reach tho.

For me, it seems good to 150 yds

Best primitive arms round imo. Trajectory is: (200 Sp at 2700) +2.8" @ 100 yrds and 1" @ 200 yds. Less recoil and better distance than 45-70 or .444.
I've been waiting for Louisiana to follow Mississippi on this.

Yeah, I've been studying those ballistics. At 200 gr it should rock.

Its good a hell of a lot further then 150. I'm not real familiar with the ballistics, but from what I remember they aren't too shaby.

Yep. Need a scope during primitive arms season now.

Am thinking bout using it all season.

Most people do
Most people also cannot effectively utilize the extra reach.
200 yards is as far as I'm comfortable shooting regardless of the gun in my hands.

I've killed a couple deer and a few hogs with mine! I killed a deer 230yds and his nose was the first thing to hit the ground. Did the pigs the same way but i shot them in the head. Its an overall good gun especially for hunting woods or 300yds or less.

With a whitetail, 300yds is as about as far as I want to shoot. With a coyote or hog I will reach it on out there. I got the Leupold VXL 4.5-14x50 with the CDS turrets last year and with a little more practice I hope to stretch it out a little farther than 300. It dials it in out to 600 but I aint that comfortable with it yet.

I'll try a long shot on any varmit, but my confidence falls off quick after 200.

quote:I agree. Not saying you couldn't make the kill but is it worth taking a chance? I honestly don't spend enough time at a rifle range that is longer than 100 yards for me to feel comfortable taking a shot much beyond 200 yards.
