The radio host played an interview with Coach Wilson. They were saying that the way LSU RBs was helpful to the RBs NFL future. Wilson sells recruits on the fact that they won't be beat up at LSU because of the RB rotation. The radio hosts went on to compare Addai, Ridley, and Hester to the Ingram and Richarson. The former LSU RBs don't have nearly the injuries that the Alabama RBs do in the pros. Richardson is already have issues with his legs. Ingram was hurt last year and is a little nicked up again this season. The average career for RBs is about 3.5 yds. At LSU, there probably isn't a time in which a RB is forced to play when they are not 100%. Sure, AA accolades and Heisman trophy potential would be out of reach when your rotating with 3 other RBs, but if a kid has any hope to have a lasting career in the pros LSU would be a better option than a school that will run you into the ground for 3 straight years.

This is true and a lesson Les took from his time at OSU where they routinely relied on one RB for 30 carries a game.

This goes back to even the Dinardo days with Mealey, Faulk, and Collins. Faulk was STILL in the league up to last year.

It's a valid point, but the comparison with Ridley is flawed. He was our workhorse in 2010.

This is a great point and major selling tactic that we are able to use for recruits. It's why we continue to land the Hilliard's and Hill's with the loaded backfield we already have.

he had a lot of carries at LSU, but he's not the punishing runner that Ingram or Richardson were.

Its a good selling tool, merits to both methods. TR was the #3 pick, injuries or no, he'll make a lot more money earlier in his career.

Great point. You have to be worried top notch backs will shy away from all the compition and depth they will face at LSU, but if they can put stats aside in college and focus on making a career out of thier talent, It's a great move.

RB position was injury plagued that year wasn't it?

Spurrier is riding lattimore to death. He won't make it midway through the season this year.

There's no doubt some merit to this but from Bama's perspective they can counter with their last two feature backs won a Heisman, another Heisman finalist, two NC's in threee years, and were 1st rd NFL picks.

And didn't Ridley have knee surgery while at LSU?

We have an incredible stable of RB's and Coach Frank is a recruiter par excellence but if you're a top shelf RB in HS Bama would have some appeal.

I can't remember the RB that Bama had before Ingram but he only lasted two seasons with San Francisco. All the wear and tear catches up with you.

Yeah, Bama had two RBs go in the first round but look at all the banging they had to do to get there. Supposedly, Fournette has Bama ahead of LSU because of the attention their backs get and the way they use their RBs.

Lattimore is a great example. By the time South Carolina plays us he will be worn down unless they find another back to share the carries. Even the NFL realizes the need for multiple RBs.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but I don't remember injuries.

That was the year Richard Murphy came back from an injury. I was kinda surprised he didn't get more carries that year than he did (he had 25). When he did play he was an extremely strong blocker.

Ford, Ware, & Blue were freshmen. Don't remember any of them being injured.

Long NFL career >>>>>>>>> Heisman

2 BCS championships in three years <<<<<<<<<<< 3 BCS championships in 9 years (LSU 2012 champs)

Then add that Ridley is just about the starter over in New England. Talent aside, in 2007 LSU had Scott, Keiland, Murphy, and Hester who went over a 1000. In 2008 Murphy, Keiland, Ridley, and Scott with 1100+ and 15tds. 2009 was an off year all around, but in 2010 Blue, Ware, Ford, and Ridley with over a 1000 yards. Even with 3 or 4 players(playing) it is possible to get 1000yds from somebody.

Now I know you will talk about the talent is far superior, and it is, also the fact that it's spread out more, but I could see one of these guys with 1000yds this year.

I say we'll total around 6000 yds this year, if not more given the schedule. About 2700 QBs, 3300 RBs

top back 1000+
2nd 750
3rd 600
4th 450
last 2 500

Fournette has BAMA ahead of LSU

What's been his response towards Wilson and the fact that we are basically at a standstill in offering RB's just to land him? Also, I thought they wanted him as their 133rd Jack LB. This Crutchfield guy is a pain in the arse.
