I figure we'd see something a bit more than a 1 percent price increase.
Given we're seeing a sub 1.5% GDP growth... a 1% increase to costs is pretty expensive to an economy.

I love how if you're "right wing" and successful, your opinion is now a part of the Republican machine, but the opinion of someone who is "left" is so organic and full of "reason."

What a joke. At least discuss the merits of the point like Decatur.

Jesus, DA.

Obamacare is a federal law (tax)

Federal =/= State

There's no such thing as "Obamacare in MA"

you must've missed the part where they were supplying health care for their workers PRIOR TO the Obamacare.

I must have considering no else mentioned it in the thread and no links have been provided.

I'd gladly pay an extra 14 cents for a pizza knowing that the company is providing healthcare for their workers.

I don't give a shite who pays what for their workers, and if i did i would simply buy pizza from somewhere else, it's called freedom of choice. But that price difference is enough to drive some people from papa johns.

And you are focusing on this, like it is in a vacuum. This isn't the only instance. Every business will have prices go up except the ones that got exemptions from Obamacare. And some won't be 14 cents. Some will go out of business. Some will lay off workers because they can't pay that much.
It is an attack on ALL BUSINESS in order to push through a liberal agenda that a minority of Americans support.

And no one has ever explained to me, if Obamacare is so great, why did so many businesses get exemptions?

14 cents on a 14 dollar pizza is enough to "drive some people from papa johns"? Really?

You really believe that?

And given that most of the Papa Johns are franchises (and thus have less than 50 employees), I'm not sure that the 1 percent price increase should fall across all stores (probably just those that are corporately owned).

Is pizza costing $0.14 more actually considered 'fallout'?

It's actually a good argument for Obamacare is that's all it adds to the price.

Anyone here work for Papa John's? How do they treat you? Benefits? Pay?

$0.14 on a $10 pizza is good? What would be unacceptable?

You add up all .14¢ on all the $14 pizzas sold in a day across the country, and that much money could have gone elsewhere in the economy.

I guess the counter point would be that 'all' goods will go up in price slightly.. 1% in this case, right? Is a 1% increase in the price we pay on goods worth 'universal' healthcare?

I disagree with the idea of the mandate because I don't like being told what to do. I'm just asking if a 1% increase in costs is worth what will be gotten out of it.

The people supplying raw materials, boxes, and electricity to Papa Johns will also face new costs, driving up the price of the end product even farther.
