Aside from the other points made by board posters critical of this assessment, I'll add this: He wasn't an extremely productive HS player. In that regard, he was looked at as a guy with "upside" more than a sure bet.

If a guy who's not a sure bet contributes during most of his four-year career, that's not a bust. If you think he was a bust, you have an inflated expectation of him.

Now, if Montgomery goes down and Agheyere got to start because of it and has a productive season, that wouldn't shock me. But I never thought he was a can't-miss guy either.
