An Oregon Army National Guard helicopter from Salem rescued an injured climber late Tuesday night from a glacier on North Sister.

The Deschutes County sheriff’s office says a 46-year-old Portland man fell about 200 feet Tuesday and a climbing partner helped him back to their camp.

County search and rescue personnel responded and called for the medevac. The copter found the man at the base of Villard glacier and hoisted him aboard for a flight to St. Charles Hospital in Bend. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

The search and rescue team stayed with the climbing partner to help him pack out extra gear Wednesday morning.

It's amazing this guy isn't dead.

I hope he eventually conquers the beast.
