So the first question has to be, which of these two is better? And in my mind, the answer has to be Alabama. Why does it seem obvious to me? For a number of reasons:

- For four straight years, Alabama has been the better team (and in 2008/2009, it really wasn't close);
- For five straight years (per scout.com), Alabama has out-recruited LSU, and the 2012 class had an especially wide gap (and scout was actually higher on LSU's class than most other sources);
- LSU enjoyed a historic outlier of a season for turnover margin in 2011, which is almost certainly not sustainable;
- Alabama annihilated LSU in the nation title game, which to me points to Bama being better in 2012 (because they were far better in that game, and because they gave a clinic on how to beat LSU), not to LSU being better in 2012 (because somehow this gives them the "motivation advantage")

Get ready to be fired up

Well that about sums it up guys..........

It should be noted in 2009, We had the #1 class in the nation over Alabama.

It should be noted that we beat Alabama in 2010 & 2011, and got robbed of an INT in 2009, I think we played them to OT in 2008 but they have been the better team......and it hasn't been close..

It should be noted that every year we go to the national title it seems we have a historic outlier when it comes to turnovers.......see 2007 and 2011.

Seems this dude needs a clinic on FACT CHECKING.

So i guess this holds firm for this year. Since we have that whole new quarterback that can throw and all. They really ought to rename CFN.com "throatfrickbamaandsaban.com"

I guess that beating we gave them in the 2010 season didn't count? And since when does beating a team on their own home field count as "we weren't good enough. we just lucked out"

My god I am so fricking sick of reading that shite. I'd wager $100, if i could go back, that if Mike Ford doesn't step out of bounds, we are 14-0 after beating OSU and we never have this discussion. God damn it i'm sick of bama.

didn't we beat them in 2010 and 2011?

oh and if we're going as far back as 2008, let's go a little further, like the five years before that 2003-2007. oh looky there we won five in a row and had 2 National Championships.

and yes, online rankings of recruits are KEY to winning football games.

What I think about when I see/read/hear shite like this- how much fun that day of tailgating is going to be, how drunk I'm going to be, how loud Death Valley is going to be, how sweet it is going to be to wipe the shite eating grin off of that entire fan base that has been there since January, and how great the victory sex with whatever I bring home that night is going to be.

PS In case we're thinking about making bold predictions as part of this exchange, my first bold prediction of the year is that LSU goes down before they play Bama. Most likely they split the Auburn/Florida road games, though South Carolina and Texas A&M are far from gimmes, and Washington at least has something of a shot.

This has got to be the dumbest thing I've heard all offseason.

also this really pisses me off

2008: yes that was definitely Miles's worst LSU team to date, but as far as Alabama goes, we brought those frickers into OT with a blocked field goal, the loudest I've ever heard Tiger Stadium

2009: had "the interception" not been shite on by the worst refs in recent memory, who knows how that game would've ended. (Bama probably would've pulled it out, but we were given no chance)

my point is, "and in 2008/2009, it really wasn't close" has to be the most ignorant part of his post, which is saying a lot.

frick that guy for getting me pissed about those games again

The asswhipping we got in New Orleans still stings...a lot. I'm not saying shite about Alabama until we beat them again. They were clearly the better team in 2011.

Thankfully most media talking heads don't think that way. Unfortunately, people still believe that LSU is more likely to stumble against lesser opponents than Bama. The writer expects LSU to have a loss before we meet Bama. Auburn/Florida and possibly USC/Washington. You really have to wonder if this guy actually watched any LSU games last year. Other then Bama, no other team came closer than 10 points.

Its les miles and the coach's fault getting their butts handed to them during the NCG. LSU simply got out coached .

Yo Dummy!!!!

LSU is set to beat Alabama 3 Straight seasons making it 10 of last 14 meetings.. We will be favored at home, at night and we want blood...LSU will win this game ... heck I've been raising cain with Tide fans for 2 years boasting how LSU would win 3 straight seasons...over the tide...Well the stage looks pretty good right now.

alabama is better at getting hype and they have coach Saban...I understand the respect, but if Les Wins this year, he will be 4-3 over Saban and frankly the last game shouldn't been played which would make it 4-2 against Nicky.... oh well

haters going to hate

Both teams fans realize how close each game between Les and Nick have been. 2011 Bama had a great defense against the run, our offense was 90% rushing result was 9 pts total in 2 games--mostly because of turnovers and special teams.

Both teams have recruited well--Bama maybe better but if so by a small percentage. 2012 I would give LSU the advantage on defense and special teams.

It comes down to one thing--same as last year. If we have a decent passing game we are gonna be the favorite. The series has been a great one lately. I can't see anyway that our guys will not be fired up for this one. O'line got pushed around some in ship game and this is where we will win or lose this game---I say we win it.

I get that Alabama (as usual) lost a large amount of talent to the draft, but when you're basically churning out #1 class after #1 class, it seems fairly doable to reload.

LSU has recruited at an elite level for years too (other than 2012)

quote:

but with huge chunks of the defense (especially the fantastic secondary) gone to the NFL, and declining recruting talent coming up to replace them, I'm not sure that the gain at QB is enough to offset the losses on defense.

hmmm, since we're talking about recruiting, we lost brockers, who will be replaced by the #1 DT in the country, anthony johnson, who was also a top 25 player in the country.

we lost brandon taylor, who will be replaced by craig lostson, who happened to be the #1 safety in the country out of high school, and a top 25 player in the country.

i won't argue replacing mo, that person will have huge shoes to fill.

BUT, we have tm7, bennie logan, sam montgomery, mingo, minter, eric reid, all coming back. not to mention, the stable of running backs and probably the deepest offensive line LSU's had in YEARS.

quote:

my first bold prediction of the year is that LSU goes down before they play Bama. Most likely they split the Auburn/Florida road games,

how can a person use this logic, when they say something like this?

"Alabama annihilated LSU in the nation title game, which to me points to Bama being better in 2012 (because they were far better in that game, and because they gave a clinic on how to beat LSU), not to LSU being better in 2012 (because somehow this gives them the "motivation advantage")

was the LSU/UF and LSU/Auburn game close? for some reason, i remember both of those games being more of a blowout than the national championship game. so that means LSU won't beat bama because of what happened in the nc, but UF or Auburn will beat LSU......someone help me out here, i'm just not understanding the logic.
