Trying to decide on a new truck

I think it is going to be either a Tundra or F 150.
Looking at the Lariat package in the ford. Toyota is a little more complicated. They offer different packages with multiple options per package.
Anyway, I want 4WD,4 door, leather, don't need a nav screen nor a rear camera.
So, fellow OBers tell me the pros and cons on each of these trucks and why I should buy which ever one you favor. I could have put this on the OT but I would rather hear from folks that share some of the same activities as myself.
FWIW, I am coming out of a 2006 loaded z71.
For your troubles

The light color wood trim in the new Lariats looks awful:yak:

I hear ya, but my days of showing are gone. I have officially classified myself in the old bull category. A bulls work is never done.

I thank you for your picture. In which case I will tell you to get the Tundra based on a few factors. The Tundra is of Jap making, and their products usually tend to be better then ours. The inside feels bigger in it also. Plus when you add some nice tires and other parts they look sick.

I think the F-150 looks better (especially the Lariat), but the Tundra is probably a better truck. If Toyota would just nut up and build a diesel...

My FIL has a new four door tundra. I have an older model, previous body style. I don't care for the new model, it feels so heavy.

I recently sold my Tundra for a new Highlander. No repairs other than scheduled maintenance and had put nearly 200K miles on it at the time of sale. Great trucks..

I don't think you can really go wrong with either. It's really all personal preference based on looks, packages, etc.

In for Ford. Oh, and you'll want the rear camera. I don't know if you own a truck now, but its way more useful than you would originally think. While you're at it you might as well get the front camera as well. Parallel parking can be a bitch.

I have a 2003 Tundra and it's a fantastic truck. Haven't had a single problem with it.

Tundras are really reliable and can take some abuse. One negative that I have found about them is they tend to ride more rough than the others. All of the rest is positive
F150 is nice and rides well. Dont know about the reliability of the Ecoboost in the long run yet.
From my experience, all of Ford's limited slips dont work unless to hold your foot on the brakes
Just go drive them both and see which one you like
Here is some truck porn

They make this? If you need a front camera to park you have no business driving any large vehicle.

I've only seen it on the Raptor. Yeah, no way in hell I would buy one of those.

Those are awful looking trucks.

and they sell for almost $70k or there about... buy a truck or buy a fast car. Don't try to have the both in one vehicle.

I have a 2010 lariat f-150 so I may be a little biased. It's a really nice truck, but it's still got the 5.4. With the newer trucks I would get the 5.0, because it's the best power/gas mileage ratio. The 6.2 gets terrible mileage, and I don't trust the ecoboost. The ecoboost is more powerful than my 5.4 at WOT but there have been cases of the turbos over spooling themselves.
The interior in my lariat is excellent. It came with heated and cooled seats and the leg room in the back seat is the most of any truck I've ever sat in. If you were to get the lariat you'll most likely get the backup camera standard. It's integrated into the rear view mirror and comes on when you put it in reverse. It comes handy when hooking up trailers, boats, etc.
I know a few people that have the tundra. And I've worked on a few in the body shop; I personally find them ugly. The interior is shitty even in their best model and it feels like driving a oversized shoebox. The 5.7 is a good motor from what I've heard. I dropped one off a jack one time after changing a tire and the shock (where it bolts to the a-arm) sheared off just from the weight of the truck sitting back into it.
I've learned to never let other people influence what you buy, because it could leave you unsatisfied. Best thing to do is just go to the dealership and actually sit in each one and see which you like better. Good luck.

Pulled my boat with Michaelb1100's new Ecoboost F150. Had to pull off the side of the interstate by Walker to check something in the boat and when I got back in the drivers seat to merge nobody would let me back on the interstate. Finally said frick it and floored it to merge. fricking thing is a beast son! Smoked the tires all the way up to about 30 mph and got up to 70 mph in no time.
I was totally expecting to hear the bow strap on my boat to break.
And I like Toyota trucks. But that F150 is the bomb.
