At least that means we can use Mac or Ross as a PH for a while. Not that we couldn't have been doing that, but Fredi gonna Fredi.

Thank God baseball is back.

McCann's wife is expecting, so Boscan was called up to replace him. We still could see a move for a shortstop

David O'Brien ?@ajcbraves
#Braves are planning to hold off on SS roster move for a day, presumably still trying to work a deal

ROAD TO WS BEGINS NOW

Some notes from Wren
quote:
Best case scenario for Simmons: first of Sept.
They are currently finding "glove-first" SS to platoon w/ Wilson. Not Pastornicky.
NOT bringing Pastornicky up.
On Medlen: more valuable in pen than as starter. But could be in rotation going forward. No plans for it though.
RH power has been hardest to find in MLB for any team. Upton rumor has NO merit.
No discussions or thoughts AT ALL so far on Prado or JJ. But in his job, "everything is on the table."
Q: "What's the deal with Greinke?" A: "He's not available yet."
Bourn is a HIGH priority. SP is same. Possibly a bat.
Q: Last yr you said young arms were untouchable. Now? A: "Let me take a drink..laughs. Not all untouchable."

On Bourn/Boras: we'll be competitive. Dealt with Boras before. All things equal, Bourn wants to stay.
On Minor or Delgado going down: We know what we're going to do, but the team doesn't yet.

Any SS targets that we know of? Saw a rumor of Marco Scutaro ok bleacher report. Don't know how I feel about that. Really disappointed in Simmons injury. Kid was really starting to click. Hope he comes back as hot as he was.
Would like to see a Greinke deal but they would probably want to extend his contract and thus make us unable to keep bourn and/or McCann. (doesn't McCann have a '13 option though for around 12 million?)

B Mac had his kid. Will be back for tomorrow.

I wouldn't expect much. Wren talking about a defensive first SS makes me think it will be Brendan Ryan, or someone like that.
Yeah, Mac has an option for next year. I'm starting to think he won't be around after that.

Considering the deal joe maur got and considering McCann has been better than him, I would probably agree with you that he may be leaving.
Our top prospect is a catcher though so maybe we'll get someone in between the productivity of Johnny Estrada and Bmac, or just another bmac.
You never know though, I could see Hanson and jurrjens, both boras clients, leaving (definetely jj) following their contracts which I think end in 2 years and 1 year respectively, and maybe the braves offering a reasonable contract to McCann. He is a hometown boy and seems to be a good guy.

Yeah, if we are seriously considering resigning Bourn and going after Greinke that would pretty much mean saying bye bye to Mac. Of course, the way Mac has looked this year not signing him long term would be a lot safer than not, especially if he's expecting more than 3 years or so.
