topic for dicussion: do you think Goku shouldve stayed dead after cell saga and allowed the torch to fully pass to Gohan?
i honestly think a lot of the series wouldve been better this way. no saiyan man bullshite and Gohan being a pansy.

He did stay dead until the tournament came around. Still turned into a pussy... 
ETA: Goten and Trunks would have taken the torch probably. Goten >>>> Gohan as a kid.

I liked seeing Goku in Other World , but I'm not so sure the show with "life on Earth" would have survived without Goku. Gohan's character wouldn't fit in that role during the filler episodes. That's just my opinion, but you never know. That's why I didn't write DBZ.

As was said a little earlier, I think this was the original plan. People just didn't like it. They wanted Goku, and maybe Toriyama thought that Gohan wasn't being accepted as the main protagnonist.
I don't know if it would have been better or just different. I liked Gohan as a character. The super saiyan 2 transformation was one of the most bad arse moments in the series.
And yes, frick the great saiyaman. We didn't need that.

He wouldn't need to if he trained as hard as Goku. He'll already be powerful enough to stop a Cell or a Buu. Goten would probably have surpassed Gohan by his teenage years. Hell probably earlier than that.
ETA: Did anybody else think that the Goku and Pikkon fight was one of the better fights in the series? I wish that they could have done more with him in the series. Definitely one of my favorite characters.

Except half blooded saiyans don't care about only fighting. Gohan gave cell every chance to quit. Even in the future Goten only cares about girls and shite. You couldn't have a non full blooded saiyan not be the main character imo (I hate saying that).

except they just glossed over 7 years, so when watching the show he went from awesome to pansy over night. im saying they dont go that route and Gohan takes his father's mantle as protector.
goten and trunks would not have the need to protect since they hadnt gone through the tragedies and battles Gohan undertook.
i really feel like Toriyama never gave Gohan a fair shot. as it was said, he was intended to be the new hero. but they continued Goku's story immediately.
watch the cell saga and the bojack movies. then tell me goten could have moments like those.

which i think would allow a new spin to be played out with Gohan. goten is a bitch. hes a worse version of goku.
i wouldve loved to have seen a Vegeta/Gohan relationship blossom with the absence of Goku. im not sure how that would even prove out. i feel like vegeta would end up killing piccolo as piccolo would constantly be the one to influence Gohan's upbringing instead of Vegeta.

In the end, neither are full blooded Saiyans. Not to take away from either, but this debate is pretty much for nothing, unless the story is continued. Then we would get to see how things truly pan out. Goten is no bitch by any means, for he reach legendary status at age 7! I love Gohan's character when he's angry, but aside from that, his character just doesn't lead the show.

I think an adult Gohan mentoring teen Trunks and Goten would have been successful. They were literally the new Goku/Vegeta always trying to one up each other. Having Gohan train them, until they are both strong enough to protect the world.
Also, was it ever made clear if Mystic Gohan was stronger than SSJ3?

It's possible. I'm sure it would be a good show, but the show is just better with Goku involved. Nobody outworks Vegeta or Goku.

That transformation was beast. I wouldn't even be that upset, if it were the Great Saiyaman costume.
