Wife just sent these to me. I believe this doe
was bedding there. What's the chance her fawn survives

how much are they clearing? the next few years will turn out better than you think. once the brush growing the deer will be moving through there.

Can't see your doe pic, but don't see how the clearing would effect the doe or her fawn too much.

We had major logging done two years ago right the middle of the rut and it never phased the deer. Matter of fact they would cut a section and the next day there would be deer tracks all over the place. I think they get curious and come check it out.

The new growth provides about 25% more food than the older treed areas. They'll hit it next year and the two to three year cutover will be rocking.

when Ivan came through in 04, half our pines were down at our camp in south alabama.
International Paper came and got all the downed trees and we had a couple nice clear cuts. That season my buddy shot the biggest buck off the property in many many years.
Deer were traveling all along the skirts of the clear cuts looking for the new growth.

The best friend of a white-tailed deer is a chainsaw. Because deer don't climb trees.
The second best friend is a 30-06 being used on another deer.

I think that's a 40 acre spot. Yea i know in about 3 years it'll be good. I have 5 acre patch of hardwoods on the fenceline that has very little underbrush for deer to lay up so i'm worried they'll move away
Got it Headbusta but thanks

I have heard many times that deer love clear cuts because it creates an "edge effect" where new growth is close to a wide viewing area (where they have a broader area of view of what can harm them) with dense growth behind it (the edge of the forest) to run to and hide, if necessary. As far as a deer bedding, she will probably just find a new place to bed..More than likely in the area that wasn't cut so she doesn't have to move far to get the food that this clear cut will offer..

Myself, I never let them clear cut on my place. I have hardwood and every time I let them cut, I do go in with them to mark trees. I make sure at least one good oak tree stands per ac.
Clear cut land will take 3-5 years before the deer will lay in it full time. Having a good stand of hardwoods, the deer will feed there in daylight to were they will feed in clear cut more at night.

That land is not mine so i didn't have that option. You can see my neighbors house now & they will probably shoot any deer that crosses the clearing to get to my line
