I find a .380 has alot more kick to it.
I recently shot my moms .380 Special revolver, and i damn near fell on my a$$ after. But thats my personal preference.
I would say find out what your friends and family members have, and test fire them for yourself, see what you are comfortable with.

most women need a man to spot them as they shoot. Initially. It comforts females to have their big alphamale boyfriend / husband helping them aim, shoot, and press their jimmies on their backs.
