Tottenham Hotspur 2012/13 Season Long Thread

Spurs got a bad break with Chelsea automatically qualifying in UEFA (stupid but its the rules). Very rough finish to the 2011/2012 after what looked like a potential top 2 campaign in the 1st half of the season.
Harry Redknapp is replace with Andre Villas-Boas as new manager. Had a rough go at Chelsea so im somewhat skeptical but it was certainly not a bad hire. I think with his style of play and alot less drama to deal with he will do a better job here.
The Super Welshman and Old Man Friedel are back along with RvdV, Parker, Adebayor, Lennon, and Kyle Walker just to name my favorites
With Modric on the way out to Real Madrid look for the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea as a good pickup for midfield. Hopefully ADV goes after a proven midfield guy to team up with everyone while Parker will come back from injury
Feel free to add any other updates I may have missed and I will update signings in the OP when i get them
To Dare Is To Do
Arsenal
Signings:
Gylfi Sigurdsson , CM, Swansea City
Ezekiel Fryers, LB, Manchester United
Jan Vertonghen, CB, Ajax
Emmanuel Adebayor, ST, Manchester City (permanent transfer)
Hugo Lloris, GK, Lyon
Clint Dempsey, FW, Fulham
Lewis Holtby, MID, Schalke
Mousa Dembele, CM, Fulham
Departures
Michael Dawson, CB, to Queens Park Rangers
Luka Modric, CM, to Real Madrid
Harry Kane, ST, to Norwich City

You would think that hate would be directed at chelsea this year..

Adebayor will be back for sure?
Spurs will win the league this year and it won't come down to the last minute like it did for City.

Last year, we were well on our way to winning the league until that Anfield Cat worked his voodoo magic and Balotelli went and kicked people in the head.

Haven't seen anything about it. I remember reading an article in November where he said he "got his life back" by playing for Spurs. I would hope that they can sign him permanently from City because Spurs needs strikers and he wont be starting over Aguero or Swagotelli at City.

Yeah, I hope we keep him. He played well last season. Albeit too well. If we hadn't won so many matches and finished 6th instead of 4th, we'd be in the UCL.
That's how it works, right?

Fantastic post. Will read over and over again.
Addressing the comment about the hate towards Chelsea, it's not their fault UEFA has a dumb arse rule in place. So I have no real additional hate for Chelsea.

Defender Steven Caulker signs a four-year deal with Spurs
He played well while on loan to Swansea City last season. He's also on the Great Britain Olympic squad.

Reading ITK that Adebayor and Vertonghen could be wrapped up soon. The club is also rumored to be after Brazilian starlet Oscar from Internacional, same club as Sandro.
Of course with AVB now in charge there will be the endless links to Porto players. The big one though is Moutinho, who would be bought with the money from the Modric sale.
Should be a very good summer for Spurs.

I hate to admit it but I found Tottenham entertaining to watch last year. Wish we could have bought Modric or Bale off of you......
I guess I am in the minority but I don't mind the champions of the CL getting in as a aq.

Most people don't have a problem with this, it's more of the fact that the 4th team DOESN'T get a spot that gets people irritated.
both should get in.

Fair enough, can't disagree with both of them getting in. Of course I would already be pissed about finishing 4th, lol.

This.
I hate to agree with Jumbeauxlaya, but that is what should happen.

Yet another Man U youngster leaving the club. Seems like one to push Benny down the road. Hope he is better that Rose at LB now. Carling and Europa will be some good match time for him.
