He was part of the - i would say - best attack of last years eredivisie. The striker Dost went to Wolfsburg, right-winger Narsingh went to PSV and now left-winger Assaidi to Liverpool. All in all a great compliment for Heerenveen.
Ajax was in the market for Assaidi, but couldn't agree on his wages. He is a real technical winger. An attractive footballer, it's fun to watch him play. He's really worked his way up from the second devision even, so that pleads for his character. He could work on efficiency i guess. And i'm sure the defenders in the Premier League will be a lot stronger than him.
Big surprise for everyone. Congrats on signing him.

He's a skilful Moroccan winger; has excellent close control and a high retention of pace when running with the ball and is extremely agile. Although right-footed, he plays on the left flank and looks to cut inside using his trickery, in a style not wildly dissimilar to Eljero Elia.
He has a good immediate burst of pace to pass defenders but his "top gear" may let him down in the EPL. He can supply decent through balls at times and has good attacking nous in that final third, but his passing gets progressively worse from deeper positions. In general, his final ball is an area that could do with improvement, but he's currently on a similar level to Scott Sinclair if that helps given an indication of his ability. However, he can be very selfish at times (unsurprising for a tricky winger, really).
The one aspect about him that, based on his Eredivisie form, could be his undoing is his poor defensive work.
To put it frankly, I'm uncertain as to whether he'll be a starter under Rodgers but he does give Liverpool a good option out wide. However, he does occupy the left flank, so it would raise questions as to where Downing would play.
