Rough loss today. Few thoughts:
1. Gervinho looks like the Carmello Anthony of this Arsenal team. He stops the ball and flow of the game, is a ball hog, has terrible movement off the ball, and doesn't play a lick of defense. I know he scored today, but if he wasn't at point blank range that would have sailed worse than his shots at Man City.
2. Ramsey looked like a new player in the first half and then last year's player in the second half.
3. Wenger made the right call with Kosc and Verma as the CBs, but it backfired. Had to put speedier guys out there to match the quick play of Chelsea, but Kosc just had a poor outing, even if he was unlucky at times.
4. Ox and Poldi were absolutely invisible the entire game.
5. Think the fullbacks are getting better and better with every game. Even their crossing is beginning to improve. Pleasantly surprised with their progression.
6. Arteta is continuing to make the Song departure look like the absolute best of business. That almost hurts me to say, as Song was probably my favorite player the last few years. Arteta makes strong tackles without the stupid fouls, is better on the ball, has formed a great partnership wit Cazorla, and just adds a sense of composure to the entire team from his distribution and calm play.
7. Thought it was an overall subpar outing, and Chelsea deserved the win, but also thought we created enough chances to win. Surprisingly encouraged. Played one of the best teams in the league, and even though we were playing poorly, could have pulled off the win. Think we will find ways to win those games as the season continues. A bump in the road, but we will be fine. If we can get Giroud going at all, we can still challenge for trophies this season.

I think Poldi was better than you give him credit for. I was not impressed with Santi or Ox today. Our best player on the field, IMO, was Gibbs.

Weird game. Chelsea largely controlled play but we by far had the best scoring chances. Besides Torres being through on goal, they didn't have a great open play chance. I think we probably deserved a draw, but they were clinical.
Kos was dominated on the first goal and slipped to set up Torres' chance, but besides that, I don't think he had a bad game. People saying Per should have started are exercising some seriously flawed hindsight.
The Diaby injury definitely hurt us early. Gervinho's goal was magnificent and he did well a few other times, but he missed a huge opportunity to play in Cazorla and Ramsey on a counter in the second half simply because he didn't look up.
This loss isn't the end of the world, but it does show we still have a ways to go to be title contenders this year. If we can continue to improve maybe we can make things interesting late.
