Put a camera out last week and dumped a bag of corn. Found this little guy snooping around by the camp. My question is, how much more, if any, can I expect in antler growth?

Never too early. This thread is making me want to go put out a camera or 2 this weekend. I've been putting it off for a few weeks. Imagine that.

I was just thinking about changing it yesterday too, but figured nothing quite as epic has been posted yet.

Thanks guys. We had some pics of him last year, and he's already got as much antler as he did in the fall last year. I'm hoping he's got some more growing to do being that it's not even July yet.

On a lighter note, anybody see the 3rd deer in the last pic. It's pretty funny when you finally see it.

That will be a nice buck. Many things contribute but if he has the genetics and the minerals he could possibly put on tine length and mass. Are you feeding anything other than corn?Deer Antler growth usually begins during the month of March or April, by August or early September, antlers are fully-grown. In most cases the typical deer antlers begins growth out of the head in a backward motion, then quickly changes direction and sweeps forward.

Deer antlers are among the fastest growing tissues known to man.

Growing as much as a ½ inch per day during peak development. The development process can vary greatly depending upon the genes and nutrition of each deer.

Not really. I've got numerous mineral licks out there. As a matter of fact you can see the stump and mineral blocks just to the deer's left in those pics. Had about 10 blocks stacked up last year and now they've been licked and/or eroded down to very small blocks. I have access to all the free blocks I want at a local salt mine and will probably put out another ton in the next month or so.
