Lake Hartwell, SC
July, bluebird day, high of 101 deg
Went with a buddy who told me dont bring anything but a fluke and topwater rod
I told hiim to stop frickn with me
Picks me up LONG after sunrise. I tell him we may as well not go now. He just laughs and tells me not to forget my topwater rod
We put in @ 11am after eating bfast. Im pretty much thinking he's lost his mind by now
We ride 5 mins from ramp put trolling motor down and tells me to get ready. I look over and see 105 ft on depthfinder. He grabs topwater rod and I start looking around for the Candid camera filmcrew
45 minutes later we each had @ 18 lb stringers(5 fish), caught on topwater in 100 ft of water.
My previous ideas on a lifetime of bassfishing were totally blown to hell. LOL

I spit on my bait every 11 casts. I've tried doing it sooner and later, but nothing works like spitting at 11.

I was just messing around one summer in 100 degree weather with a popper around noon and actually caught a big bass so

I don't dip. It's just regular ol' spit. Now, it may have some beef jerky or sunflower seed flavor in it. I guess bass like that stuff as much as I do.

White Perch fishing. See bass hitting top under duck weed. Have no bass stuff. Set cork depth to 1" with bare hook under. Catch several bass.

Decimated several farm ponds with the Banjo Minnow

Throwing wacky rigged senkos in deep water with little structure

Oh ye of little faith. LOL.
Afterwards he explained why. Seems they topped the flooded forest at 30-45 ft below normal pool in this lake. The largemouth sit in the tops of these trees waiting on schools of shad or blueback herring to swim over. Where upon they charge up and crush the schools in the gin clear water.
Unreal to watch 4 n 5 lbers coming full steam straight up to hit topwater. Like watchn Great Whites nailing seals on the Discovery channel.

I've rubbed a red shad worm across my butthole a couple times fishing ponds... Always works.

never hurts to get a little stank on it IMO

Alx and I invented wacky worming in 95. Was a great day at Toledo. Right before my first bite I thought we were high.

You could not get to a tackle store fast enough to buy a spinning rig

A fish sitting on a bed might not eat but she will defend her nest/bed. That means throwing your lure and fishing it normally probably isn't going to work. Throw that lure in there 4-5 times burning it up to the bed then twitching and jerking and she will destroy what she sees as a predator.
