re: It wasn't ALL Saban - tl;dr

Dinardo left the program much, much better than what he inherited. Then Saban raised it more.
But Hallman left it to go nowhere but up. It was easy for DiNardo to bring it up, then he stalled big time.
Saban fought the battle to bring it to the current level, not DiNardo.

This isn't meant as a disparagement of Saban. I do consider him the best coach in college football (though I consider Miles to be roughly his equal, Jan. 9 notwithstanding

He said I was an Alabama fan because I claimed Les Miles isn't one of the top 10 coaches of all times.
This statement is representative of your small mental capacity. I said you were an Alabama fan because you've been stuck on Saban's nuts and you can't enjoy the success of LSU football under Miles as a result. That makes you a punk bitch. Miles has had tremendous success at LSU but you don't like him because he's not Saban. You need to be marginalized in society in every way.

DiNardo is a good guy but it was just time for him to go. He was never going to get us a national title game. He may have never gotten us to a SEC championship. Saban is more extreme about some things.

Our turnaround from being the mecca of inconsistent, underachieving football to a perennial college football power was nothing short of dramatic....so dramatic we take alot of things for granted now. Saban had skill, commitment, relentlessness and vision.....and resources. Mark Emmert was instrumental but he didn't know to go get Tommy Moffitt, he didn't know anything about press defenses with exotic blitz packages, he didn't know anything about Jimbo Fisher's hard-nosed offensive football approach, he didn't know about Will Muschamp's desire and maturity at such a young age nor his recruiting prowess. Emmert didn't know anything about what it takes to run a major college football program. Alot of coaches could have had success at LSU but not to the level and with intensity that Saban did. Saban wanted to make LSU football better than it had ever been, what it always was meant to be. And regardless of where he coaches now, nothing can change what happened between December 1999 to December 2004. Some folk have tried to rewrite what happened during Saban's tenure here but I know better. Saban's job was not to be anybody's friend and give fans top shelf treatment, but to renovate our program and make it the best it can be. He made tremendous headway in that regard.
I have seen the Saban vs Miles topic run into the ground around here for years .. It is sickening to watch fricking morons minimize coach saban's impact on our program .. This post is a thing of beauty, Rocket .. Absolutely perfectly stated ..

None of this is true or indicative of my opinion. But as usual, you're a cocksucker making shite up. You must have your north Louisiana, manual labor existence.

The worst aspect that these threads take is pitting two LSU HC's against each other. Saban should be lauded just like Tinsley, Dietzel, ChollieMac, Arnsparger, Miles....for whatever they accomplish. Saban at UA is separate and has nothing to do with LSU save as just another opponent. This isn't what the OP intended but that seems to be where the thread went.

Rocket likes to make everything about him to run down other posters. Used to be a decent poster here but he's one of the worst now

I'm pretty confident that when CLM is done it will be Miles, then everyone else a distant 2nd, in LSU CFB HC history. We'll see.

If it would have been up to Elleshoe, Miles would have been fired a couple of years ago.

Sure.
I think Miles is a good coach. But I think Saban is a great coach. I've missed a single home game in the Miles era. That's how much I hate him
You're an absolute joke, redneck

You're not fooling anyone. You long for Saban, not realizing that Saban is never coming back as the head football coach. Time to move on.

Rocket, does it suck work in manual labor? I bet your wife and children hate you because you can't provide for them adequately.

Dinardo left the program much, much better than what he inherited.
GD inherited a program that had won 25 games in 6 yrs and was the laughing stock of Louisiana and much of the SEC.
La. HS talent wasn't walking away from LSU, it was flat out running away.
In 3 seasons, LSU had 26 wins, 3 yrs of NR'ed teams, and 3 bowl teams.
He made LSU respectable again and that sped up NS time table of making LSU elite.
GD started the turn around, NS completed it, and LM has maintained it/improved it for 8 yrs.

I do agree...that game was really the start of our rise from the cellar...damn, those were some rough years and they seem like just yesterday to me...I'll never take our recent fortune for granted...
