No one is arguing against the 60s and certainly not the first half of the 70s. The latter half of the 70s into the extremely early 80s was pretty lame though.

You're entitled to your opinion but the 80s was an incredibly diverse and deep for music across nearly every imaginable genre. The 60s and early 70s was the golden age of rock n roll, R&B, and funk, but the 80s were also notable for very solid across an incredibly diverse number of genres.

I guess we see it differently. I see the 80s as more being propped up by artists that originated in the 70s (and even 60s) than for being known for outstanding original artists that began their careers in the 80s.
