Rank the conference champions based on BCS computers. Top 4 seeded in a playoff based off computer rank.
Have each conference pick their method of determining their champion.
Be done with it. Uses objective criteria and computers that will have less bias than a committee or voters to evaluate team resumes.

the problem is that you're basically assuming all conferences are equal OR ignoring the strength of a #2 team from a strong conference
