SO basically...
now that France is moving to the left, Germany won't have the leverage by itself to call the austerity shots for all of Europe. And thusly they will take a short term economic hit and switch back to the DM, taking control of their own destiny.
I forget who said it but I recall a quote "Germany is too big for Europe but too small for the world."
Sounds like it could work out for Germany, they are a disciplined people with strong labor unions and social safety net. It seems natural to move towards isolationism.
