eliminate helmets and shoulder pads, as there are no better tacklers than rugby players. when you MUST tackle properly to make a play, it's amazing how seldom people lead with the head.

I've been saying this for a long time. Players use their helmets as weapons. They had almost zero head injuries before because nobody led with their head.

Yup.
NFL will never eliminate helmets IMO though due to how valuable the logos are. Imagine no Cowboy's star, Green Bay 'G', Saints Fluer-de-lis, etc.
We're talking mega-million dollar branding tools here.

I wouldn't say eliminate them..
Have pads that aren't made of HARD, LIGHT plastics that make the players faster and more dangerous because of how hard the plastics are now.
I have been saying this as well. It would make the game more interesting if players had to actually tackle one another
