Hopefully so, but cover bands sell out the Varsity most nights and normal touring bands typically don't. It's frustrating, because the varsity is a business trying to make money too.
BR peeps just have terrible taste is REAL music, and they think the Molly Ringwald's is actually a good show
This is a sad statement but it's just like the chain restaurants we have here. People like the same stuff over and over again.

This is a very good comparison. Too many peeps in BR would like a Friday night out at Red Lobster and Olive Garden...then go watch the CheeWees, etc.

It's funny.. Bands that sell out shows all over the country come to BR, and 40 people show up

Saw Finger Eleven there in the past couple of years and there were less than 100 people there...that's embarrassing!

Not really. Finger eleven sucked live. They had that ONE catchy song.
I worked there when they came through back in 2007

Part of the reason for that is that when a music fan considers a trip to the Varsity, they have to wonder if they'll be surrounded by happy-hour loving, DJ jiving, "cheesewhizzers" while they're trying to listen to real music.
Once a venue establishes a reputation for catering to the ladies night crowds, it's hard for other types of customers to take the chance of going there.

I don't see a problem with a weekly dance night to help pay some bills. Spanish moon does it. Hell, they do it twice a week.
And they still get good bands coming through.
Mewithoutyou is coming in August with Kevin Devine

As long as the dance night/ladies night crowds understand the difference and don't screw up real music nights with their DJ music attitudes, things might work out. But from what I've seen, they can't keep that straight. Not only do they screw up the music for those who come out to see good bands, but they are frustrated and obnoxious because the band's not playing dance funk grooves.

Both killed it at Bonnaroo. I'd drive from Lafayette for both easily. I've seen Gary Clark Jr. twice and both times were great.

Heard the new guy, AB, really likes the nose candy. Which will, admittedly ,lead to better acts.
Well I heard the new guy, KAB, is hilarious and has a huge cock. Which will, admittedly, lead to better acts.

First hand knowledge?

No, I just wanted to throw out wild accusations about him like everyone else was doing.

I also like how Souljah dropped the initials in there as if to give it some validity.
