and play alongside Anthony Davis, according to ESPN Insider...

But for how much? If he's willing to take a reasonable salary, somewhere at $7m I would think...

Apparently the Heat and the Trail Blazers are also interested in Kaman.

Would be a great pickup for the Heat though. Does the MLE still exist under the new CBA? That's the only way they can get him.

The Heat supposedly have interest, although they don't have more than a $3 million exception to offer, and Kaman is sure to attract better offers.

we could match that

He'd love to make the competition for his services as fierce as possible even more.

That's not a reasonable salary. Average defensive centers like Kwame Brown and Dalembert got $7 million per this past offseason. Kaman has adequate defense/rebounding plus he can score, albeit inefficiently. I'd expect him to get closer to $9 - $12 million. on a 1 or 2 year deal.

He enjoys the gun laws over here. Of course he wants to come back.

If we move Okafor and can get Kaman for a reasonable price then lets do it.

Heat have the mini MLE and maybe a biannual. They have 12 guys under contract for $78m if a player option is exercised and have been taxpayers for a couple of years. They will be mostly making moves via trade due to their salary position.

Sign-and-trade of Kaman for the Heat's 1st, Ronny Turiaf's expiring contract, and cash to buy him out?

The Heat have to send back 90% of Kaman's salary, but the salary hold for a late 1st and Turiaf's $1.2m player option may do it.

I'd love to amnesty Okafor, sign Kaman to a 3 year deal averaging $9 million per season, and trade Ariza to get an additional pick in the draft.

Don't think we can on draft night.

ETA: I mean sign and trade anyone.

So I'm thinking the lineup for the first game will be something like

Jack
Gordon
Gay
Davis
Kamen

Sound about right?
