Great thread.

Blazer fans probably aren't feeling so good either. I understood the pick at the time, but in hindsight it was a franchise-altering pick.

its funny how now that pick looks so awful, but I can remember some serious debates over it here though

Should 've built that arena. Seahawks and Mariners got theirs.

The irony of all of that is the city of Seattle pushed to finally begin movement on building new basketball arena in order to get another NBA team in town...and the Mariners AND Seahawks both shot down the movement.

The Seahawks never did, but the Mariners had traffic concerns. Nobody likes the Mariners' management anyways. Bennett never even tried to solve the arena issue. He wanted to build some ridiculously expensive one in a city outside of Seattle. It was an asinine proposal that nobody took seriously. He said that he tried hard, then packed up and left, even though he had zero intention of staying.

Dunno what to tell you man. I'm sorry. I feel bad for ya.
No idea why your previous owner would sell a struggling NBA franchise with a decaying arena to a Oklahoma businessman at the very time that the NBA community was being blown away by how supportive the OKC fans were of the Hornets.
I hate it but that's life. If we had gotten Kings, Hornets, Bobcats, etc. fans would have gotten hurt. It sucks. But it's happened in every sport and will probably continue to happen. My brother was a massive Atlanta Thrashers fan. And then POOF they're gone. It sucks but it is what it is. Franchises are businesses and businesses change.

blame the previous owner, not bennett. after the hornets came here, everyone knew we were going to get a team. the previous owner had to know that, but he didin't care. why didn't anyone in the seattle area try to purchase the team? i don't feel bad at all, but i can understand why seattle people are upset.

Not your fault. Just still mad at how it all went down. The really ironic part is that we'll likely end up with a team from another city too, although it won't be the same way this whole thing happened. I think a lot of fans are done with the NBA after that whole ordeal though and I think it would flop if it tried to come back. I think an NHL team would be more successful.

Come on man, Bennett flat out lied to an entire fan base. Of course he's going to shoulder a lot of the blame and hatred. Of course Schultz is to blame too though. I think fans are split 50/50 on who to blame.

i agree, but people had to know it was coming. i went to a ton of hornets games, it was a huge success from day one. there was no way he was going to stay, i don't know how he should have handled it.
