To be fair to Nando, you don't fix a period of bad form by sitting on the bench. It's insane that Chelsea would allow Torres to sit on the bench, considering he is a rapidly deteriorating investment.

This is stupid.

The guy got hours and hours of chances earlier in the season and didn't do a goddamned thing with the chances he was given.

Later in the season when Chelsea is playing in cup finals and trying to stay in the top 4 and Drogba is BEASTING the best defenses in the world, 'Nando decides to start playing a LITTLE bit better and he's pissed he's not starting over Drogba?

Sorry 'Nando. The club isn't just going to say frick it and piss away it's chances at silverware because you're now finally ready to live up to your potential.... maybe.

If he wants to play on a CL level team I think he needs to realize that he's not the caliber to be a number one striker on teams like that. And if he feels he is then he should PROVE it which he hasn't.

Nah, this is stupid. you seem to forget he has already proved his ability as a player.

Torres should be frustrated. He shouldn't error being put on the bench or pushed out on the wing.

The thing is crazy, with Roman, investments don't have to come good. He can afford to waste or misuse him. Their whole way of doing things is insane when it comes to money.

In a system that wasn't giving anyone chances. AVB was a really bad fit for the Chelsea team that they currently have. Once the system changed to something everyone was more comfortable with, everyone, including Torres, started playing better. I think his benching had more to do with the comfort that Lampard and other midfield players had with Drogba, and Drogba's ability to pressure opposing CB's physically, in a way that Torres doesn't do. Drogba suited the style of counter attacking football Chelsea adopted.

Drogba only finished with five goals on the season. They came at important times, though, which is a testament to Drogba's talent. They didn't really get the chance to work together either, which is a shame, as the combo of Drogba as a target striker and Torres as a 1 v 1 striker might have worked well. My point is that you don't spend £50 million on a striker for him to sit on the bench. That is the definition of stupidity.
