Yeah but you haven't provided me with proof that people were actually saying they want him fired. So as they say... Link?

I'll eat my shite ton of crow I deserve for this one. I didn't say to fire Mainieri, I said he needs to host a regional or he should be fired.

However, I was very wrong on where I thought this team would go. Coach Dunn has completely made our whole pitching staff championship caliber. I still am not very high on our hitters, but as I look across college baseball, very few teams are hitting well at all except for UF and a few others. Maybe LSU fans are just spoiled from our usual offense oriented teams and haven't come to accept life with the new bats.

I wasn't a fan of the Javi Sanchez hire and I still stand by that Paul screwed up by hiring somebody with no experience to coach at LSU. However, he has put us around 4th in hitting in the SEC. That's not terrible, considering the talent we have. I just don't think that justifies a firing.

Considering LSU won the first three games this year I'd say you're wrong.

YOU LOSE

GOOD DAY SIR

Perhaps if you said after the App State series.

i just don't understand when this stuff happens either way .. why start an "i told you so" thread ? coming off of last season, coupled with that appy state series .. there was reason for fans to be frustrated at that point and question the direction of the program over the last year plus .. just like there is now reason to celebrate an SEC title ... smoke laval was taking us to omaha and then his deal went to shite .. so it wasn't beyond the realm of possibility that CPM was headed in that same direction based on the way things were going early this season ... you can either deal with reality .. or hold out hope .. in the end, whomever turns out to have taken the correct stand isn't anymore of a soothsayer than the one that was proven wrong over time ..

THIS. There were few people who flat out said he should be fired immediately. THe majority of people mentioning firing were putting a contingent on how we finished this season.

yeah .. i recall very very few people literally wanting him removed after the sunday appalachian state game .. but how can someone really knock a fan for calling his seat hot after that ? i won't say maineri saved his job this season .. but he sure as hell poured a shite ton of ice on his seat ..

I understand how it works.

I just like pointing out these type of things to posters that post on emotional lows. (ala Moustache is the WORST. I can tolerate him on any board except this one.).

I just don't understand how people can't take a step back and know that college sports are cyclical. All of them. There are going to be peaks and valleys. Its been happening since sports were invented. New coaches and players come through and some don't mesh or are as good as the teams before.

It's going to happen in football after this season. There will be a mass exodus and new players will have to learn their position and gain experience

Now, if losing becomes a trend or habit, then I can understand (Trent Johnson) but to want to fire a coach 2 years removed from a National Championship ( or 2 hours away from playing in one) is just completely irrational and I just feel the need to call them out here and there and remind them they need to step back and take a look at the bigger picture.

The drama queens hear what they want to hear and read what they want to read. They don't miss any opportunity to start shite, even when everybody else is celebrating.

i know, bro .. but it is gonna go both ways all the time .. i have always broken this place down into three factions .. positigers, negatigers, and realitigers .. i have always considered myself in group C .. i am a diehard .. but i am also a realist .. i spend a lot of money attending LSU events and donate money to my alma mater too .. i know how much money goes through the AD and what kind of a profit this AD turns a year .. it is one of the most lucrative athletic programs in the NCAA ... for the money that fans spend to put the AD where it is on the monetary landscape, losing seasons just shouldn't be tolerated in the big three sports .. i don't subscribe to this unconditional love theory when it comes LSU sports ..
