The Big 12 and the Southeastern conferences have announced a deal that will pit their football regular-season champions against each other in a New Year's Day bowl game for five years beginning in 2014, positioning themselves for the expected switch to a four-team playoff.

About time we get a conference champion and not an At-Large. I like the move and it's a "close" conference in terms of location to our schools. Might be a nice rivalry.

I like the idea, but I don't really like the possibility of the SEC not in the Sugar bowl. I'm sure it's still possible, as Arlington, TX and New Orleans seem like the most logical locations, but I bet this ends up at Jerry's World

This confuses me.

This won't take the place of whatever bowl we were supposed to be in, right?

We're going to play in 2 bowl games now?

So, has the SEC given up on the position that the #2 SEC team (non-conference champion) should be eligible for the 4 team playoff if they are ranked in the top 4?

The info on this new bowl makes it sound like it has.

God I hope this game doesn't end up in Jerry World. The stadium is great and all but the city sucks for this type of event. They did a terrible job for LSU-Oregon
