Huge difference. You wanna compare the talent of our team in 08/09 to our talent in 07/11/12?

It's not quite as good for sure, but fairly comparable. We were still a preseason top-five team in 2008, and we were still getting top-ten recruiting classes every year back then. It's not like expectations were 8-5 that year. We thought RJF would be our next dominant DT after a breakout BCSCG, Hester was just another RB that we could plug someone in for, and RP was the QB of the future. It obviously did not work out that way.

BTW, I wasn't trying to say I think we will take a step back next year, just that the fact that we didn't miss PP7 doesn't mean we won't miss Mo. The reason we didn't miss PP7 is because we had Mo to replace him. Not sure Simon is ready to be that guy right now.

Most teams would be in deep shite. LSU just reloads. There will be a drop off, no doubt. He was an outstanding CB, but we have so much talent at the position it's ridiculous.

Not much, with Nevis, Favorite, Jean-Francois, Alexander, etc.; Pelini? A TON.
quote:

Hester
Not much. Offense was still productive from the RB position, though limited badly by turnovers from the QB.

Flynn
A lot, but the offense was still productive. The crushing mistakes from the passing game were a huge blow to this team, but the defense was the biggest factor in how bad this season was. And that was a lot more than Dorsey.

The only significant weakness the 2008 team had as a result of talent lost that could not be replaced with new talent was at QB. The defense had the talent to be exceptional yet again, but the coaching was atrocious.

Didn't we lose a top notch DB coach? That worries me much more.

That dude made a difference.

I'm worried about this more from a recruiting stand point in a few years rather than right now

I think about as much as we missed Peterson. Simon will be great too.

I agree. One great player leaves...and another great one steps up.

Cooper was the best assistant on the team. This worries me far more then who is going to play

We did fine with zenon and I think we have several corners better then him.

He will be missed without a doubt. You don't often go from award winning top 5 pick CB to having another one the next year. To have a third consecutive would be just unheard of. It's highly unlikely that any CB we have will be playing at the level that he was...That being said, we will still probably have one of the top secondaries in the SEC if not the nation.

Not much. The attempt to replace Pelini was the problem.
