But seriously....wtf do we do if we pick 4 and Davis/TRob/MKG are off the board? I honestly think I'd take Barnes. Beal is just too repetitive and Drummond is too risky.

I would love Drummond for our second pick if he is still there. Less risk since we've taken another top player before that.

You take the BPA. And that's likely Beal or Drummond.
Need is largely irrelevant in the NBA draft.

Jones III or Drummond in that scenario at #4. I'd want surer player, but you have to take that risk if what you said plays out. Personally I'd take Perry over Drummond simply because he actually has a skillset to build around.

5 to 10
Does no one else think this is pure crap? Or is it just because it really has nothing to do with the Hornets?

I don't know why you're laughing. Jones will very much be in the discussion to go in the top 5.
Davis, Robinson, Beal, and Drummond stand a good chance of being the first four picked. Though it's weird saying that this far out from the draft.
Beal is a stupid pick at that slot when you already have Gordon at his position with neither having much versatility or size to play the other guard or the three.
As everyone knows, Jones and Drummond are going to be picked high because of ceiling, not production. It's my opinion that I'd take him over Drummond simply because you have a lot to build off of with Jones's existing skillset. Having the versatility to also play the three a little, also helps here. JMO.
I can see MGK sliding because his ceiling is very questionable. Defense is obviously really good. Good rebounder. But how will he score at the next level? His work ethic is a plus, though.
A lot of questions about how Sullinger will translate. He will be able to contribute some nice things right away, but you're not looking for simply a contributor this high in the draft.
Do you want to tell me why you're writing Jones off of jumping a few of these guys on the boards right now? I caught the same reaction when I said Udoh had the potential to go top 5 a few years ago when everyone was projecting him to go around #10-12. He went 6th. He was in a weaker class, but he didn't have nearly the things Jones will potentially have going for him.
Obviously many questions surround Jones's game, but his ceiling is up there with Davis and Drummond. His measureables are really good. He's very skilled -- just needs to polish them. Likely will do well in interviews as people have raved about his character. Additionally, many articles have come out questioning whether he was to blame for his 'low' production as they feel like he was misused in Drew's offense. Jones legitimately can knock every area of the draft process out of the park, something maybe only 3 other guys in the draft can do.
But what do I know, I'm just a biased Baylor fan?

I can tell

While the next phase in draft scouting does play to Jones' strength, measureables, I think Sullinger and Barnes have a better chance at jumping back in the top 5 discussion than Jones.

Doesn't matter. You only consider need when choosing between similarly rated players. You aren't drafting players, you're drafting assets. Reaching for need automatically devalues your asset. I know trading doesn't happen often at the top of NBA drafts, but if we want Jones more than anyone available at 4 Demps should be able to trade back since it's seen as a 6 man draft and Jones is not one of those 6.

I can see him sliding because he's a defensive wing and those don't have premium value in the NBA. But if he slides I doubt he slides past the Hornets.

And I think most people think GS made a mistake drafting him that high.

That means you know a lot about Jones which can be useful, but you give him the benefit of the doubt in comparisons. Pretty much every single comparison you've laid out here you say "why not Jones instead?" You really think GMs will give him the same benefit of the doubt you give him?

Jones at 4 is no more laughable than Drummond at 4.

Drummond has remained in the top 5 in pretty much all respected mocks, Jones has not remained top 5 in any of them.

Okay, and I find that laughable.

Drummond will go in the top 5, and PJ will not most likely. That may be laughable in your opinion, but it's also probable.
They're both similar imo...big talents that have star potential if they can put it together.

It will go from laughable to devastating for me if we draft Drummond with our first pick. I would have no problem taking a project with our second pick, but we need a player who can contribute with that first pick.
