Big 10 is more concerned with making sure a big 10 team makes the championship/playoffs than anything else regardless of its a deserving team or if a playoff move would benefit the league more overall.
Every conference is most concerned with that. These aren't benevolent organizations.
You would be a crappy CEO/Commish of your Company/Conference if you didn't protect its financial interests.

Collins was throw around 20 times a game (264 atts in 94). That's a fairly balanced offense. In any event, they run and play defense because that's what the coach prefered, (Didn't they recruit Jim Kelly as a LB?) just like the coach at Alabama and LSU, not because weather dictated it. If they can run a spread at Purdue, they could do it at other B1G schools. Its not the weather, its the coaching philosphy.

Part two is the kicker. You think an Ohio St player wouldn't relish the chance to go down to the Swamp and kick the Gators' arse in their backyard? Or an LSU fan wouldn't want to punk Michigan in the Big House? It's not just home playoff games which would be great, but ROAD playoff games. I'd far prefer to go to Eugene than play them in the Fiesta Bowl in that antiseptic stadium. Hard to get a hotel room? So what? Drive.
This got me super excited, away games are the best part of college football.
Imagine traveling to USC for a playoff game? Holy shot dude think about taking over a bar in CA with 100 LSU fans on a Friday night, then tailgating all day on Saturday. Or Ohio State, or Michigan, holy shite this would be cool

How many games does BC play in the south in Nov?
You are now just being argumentive to be a douche because I've crushed you cliched belief that teams can't pass in the north.

If the weather is not a factor why the playoff fear ?
Why the lobbying for having all playoff games held at Bryant-Denny ?
Pitt has been a run first team too (Dion Lewis, Lesean McCoy,Ray Graham)

No one can ever tell me that it being cold has no effect on the players.
LINK
If you watched this game, you know that Miami players were under heaters during the game in their underarmour and Wisky guys were in T-shirts loving the 50 degrees
Not saying it would sway it one way or the other, just that it is a factor

THIS.
Walking out of BDS after the 2005 game is still one of my favorite sports-related memories, period.
Awesome feeling (though I'm sure LSU fans at BDS on 11/11 felt this time a hundred...and Bama fans felt this times a billion on 1/9).

Was 20 passes a game under the national average the Kerry Collins year in question ?

We're the ones lobbying for northern playoff games, not the Big Ten. You can pass in the cold. Ask Brett Favre.

Yep. I want 1 and 2 to host playoff games just so being 1 and 2 has meaning.

that is an argument i can buy, or at least give the playoff some type of regional advantage (similar to the one in basketball)

No advantage for Penn State to be locked in the Rose Bowl, higher ranked team host playoffs to give the season meaning, I agree

What the fear are you talking about? Can you read? As far as I can tell in this thread ALL the LSU/SEC fans arguing FOR home playoff games and relishing the prospect of playing a game in the Big House, Horseshoe or Happy Valley

Purdue's an example of passing failure, The Boilmakers winning % in Nov. is far below their overall winning % since Penn State joined the B1G.

by pointing out there are plenty of teams in the north at all levels that throw the ball frequently and that run first is a coaching philosphy shared by many coaches, its not dictated by weather, just what the coaches want to do.

The idea that teams that play 75% of their season in Sept and Oct when the weather is mild don't install passing offenses is both stupid and false.

I will never understand the unwavering loyalty college football has to the bowl games, which are the most corrupt organizations in the nation not affiliated with Congress.
You realize that college presidents get feted like Queen fricking Elizabeth when they visit the bowls, right?
You do remember who actually runs the NCAA, right?
