Based only on age you are either shortchanging Drew or giving Brady an extra year or so.

Drew's a year younger than Brady, right?

While that knee injury was catastrophic, it also limited the amount of games Brady has been in.

I could have slightly erred towards Brady a bit, but he's 34 and Brees is 33. Lets be honest, how many QBs are elite 35/36 and older ya know?

Sad that it took a Pats fan to explain how dumb what MinnesotaTiger said was.

You are really breaking my balls over saying they'll be out of their primes in a year or two and kind of lumping them together?

Hell, if you want to get technical, they both had massive injuries on important parts of their bodies, which means their prime could be over this offseason if, for some reason, their injuries start acting up.

Just because a QB is out of his prime doesn't mean he's shitty, it just means, by definition, he's no longer physically at the top of his game.

Favre's numbers really took a dive when he turned 40....

Oh wait, they were pretty much the best they ever were.

If breaking your balls is 2 sentences then yeah I guess.

Montana... oh wait.

Marino... oh wait.

Favre sucked at 36, 37, 39, and 41. Brady, nor Brees, have Favre's arm strength anyways.

Oh, and Chad... if you were looking for a good QB being in his prime past 35/36... I would go with Elway.

Montana played great but you are totally dismissing obvious factors of leaving the west coast niner offense and going to a shittier team like age was the only thing that changed.

very little dropoff from 35 to 37-38 and his teams sucked arse late.

With todays medical advances in sports I wouldnt put it past Brady or Brees to keep playing at around the top of their game for two or more seasons

If anything I think both will just plateau for a couple years before hitting the downside of their careers

hell brady just came out and said he wants to play til hes 45, and I believe him

Isn't Welker also giving up leverage?

Yes and the media dumped all over him for it today. For that specific fact - giving up his leverage.

I wonder if the Pats will reward him for it.

I doubt it.

Unlike Brees, Welker isn't a HOF QB in his prime

THIS+1,000,000

Welker (wr) is happy to get paid that much towards the end of his career (31-35 years old); Drew (qb) is in his late prime (33-39 year olds) and needs to work on a good deal because it could/should be his last long term contract. Also, QB's are worth more than WR's and Drew is smart enough to know that and the same could be said about Welker, he is smart enough to take what's on the table. Also, in my opinion, Drew is worth more than any player that has been worth anything ever! What he has done for this team, franchise, town and even the league is unprecedented. Just pay the man so we can enjoy him for 6 more great years and then we can go out and over pay for an Aaron Brooks again.

I'm not stupid, Lucius. No one lives forever. No one. But

and my high level of income, I mean, it's not crazy to think I can't live to be 245, maybe 300. Heck, I just read in the newspaper that they put a pig heart in some guy from Russia. Do you know what that means?
