German Hijackers.
To get this thread back on topic.
I'm not thrilled with this lineup, thus far. I really do hope that Klinsmann expands his roster 2 fold when the rest comes out.
No Lichaj ? No Chandler ? No Goodson ? No Onyewu ? Our defensive side fricking sucks right now. Dolo was the star of the World Cup but the dude is getting old. He is even losing PT for Hannover.
Morales, Castillo, Old Boca, Old Dolo = disaster. IMO. He has to get some help right ?
If the majority of the rest of our roster is compiled of MLS, we fricked.
I assume we are going to add 16 more ?
I hope the following are added: Chandler, Klejstan, Donovan, Goodson, Lichaj, Agudelo, Altidore, Onyewu.
ETA: After reading JK's quotes onthe roster. I think Onyewu will get called up in the upcoming roster. Also, look at this gem.

On the exclusion of Timmy Chandler from the roster:
“I have had long conversations with Timmy about where he is in his professional career and his commitment to playing international football. He has expressed his appreciation for all the opportunities we have given him, but he also feels at this point he needs to take a break. It’s disappointing not having him as a part of the team at this important juncture of building our team, but ultimately a player must decide what is best for him. The door is certainly not closed on Timmy, but in the moment we move on without him.”

On whether this is the group of players on which he is beginning to focus:
“Yes. All the players coming now for this very special four-week period represent our core. If tomorrow was the World Cup, this is the group that comes in for our World Cup roster. It’s a clear signal to other players that right now it’s down to business. We’re playing World Cup qualifiers. It’s not about experimenting or seeing different players, it’s about who we think are the best.”

I wouldn't take stock into too much of what Klinsmann says. He has an extremely high BS meter reading for a coach, polar opposite from Bob Bradley saying only enough to answer the question.

He's been known to fill up an interview sheet

Well there really isn't any reason Onyewu doesn't get the call up. He has been getting PT and has done pretty well in his latest call ups for the USMNT.
As far as Chandler is going, I don't think JK would throw him under the bus like that.
And for the World Cup Roster quote. Who fricking knows.

More European based players will be called in, I'm pretty sure. And Gooch has to be one of them.

Why not? Although because it's germany as the other country this leads me to believe it's more of Chandler's club rather than the german national side.
I don't think Jurgy would be too upset if someone wanted to play for his country over the US having the choice.. at least compared to any other country. And considering that he DID call him out.. I see it being something besides that.

Yes, but I also wouldn't mind Adu being added.. I know I know.. but he really seems to have stepped up lately to me.

This releasing the roster in pieces is horseshite, IMO FWIW LOL.

I don't mind adu getting a call up.
About the Chandler thing, its never good when a coach throws a player under the bus, in general. It creates animosity.
I just think that JK has his reasons n its probably not unwarranted

Gatt started at RM, today. I wonder if he will be called up, I'd love that.

I wish Freddy could just have one full season where he actually plays all year and is in decent form before he gets called in. Talent has always been there, he's never managed to keep his head down and consistently earn his place on a team. He still has a lot of learning to do and I don't think the USA can afford to carry a player like him on the field defensively.

Ives released a piece on the Chandler situation.

What Chandler needs to realize is that the calls from Klinsmann won’t keep coming. Every time he wastes a chance to play for the United States, it gives other players an opportunity. If playing for the United States really, truly matters to Chandler, then that should worry him. Yet if playing for the US isn’t quite that important, then Chandler might just want to let Klinsmann know right away.
With the World Cup just two years away, Chandler better figure things out right away. That might seem like a long time from now, but with each opportunity he passes up, and each USA snub he delivers, he alienates his teammates, his coach and the Americans who want to be his fans.
If Chandler isn’t careful, two years from now he could find himself sitting at home, a world away from Brazil, watching both the United States and Germany playing in the World Cup. He will have all the rest he needs then, but he will also have more regret than he could ever have imagined.

There is something always wrong with Chandler. Either his club doesn't want him to come, or his club thinks he shouldn't come because he is a rookie and they don't want to wear him out. According to Chandler. (Which I can kinda see, Look at Shea but then again his dip in form is because he played an entire season, played in every US opportunity, went to Arsenal in the offseason. The kid was busy as frick.
For me....these two events have really fricking irk'd me.
1.) Chandler turns down the US for Gold Cup. Which would lead us to the Confederations Cup if we win. Cherundolo gets hurt in the final. Leads Bornstein to come in. We get crushed.
2.) Chandler turns down the US for World Cup Qualifying.
3.) Chandler goes hard against Omar Gonzalez. Ruins his knee.
Okay, kidding here. Well. Sort of.
4.) Chandler comes out publicly and says that US is where he wants to be and there is no other choice.
I'm about to say frick the dude.
ETA: the kid has talent. He'd be a huge fit for the US, but frick him for stringing the US a long. If he decides to be a permanent German. Then his actions = 10x worse then that actions of Giuseppe Rossi. At least, Rossi said he was "all italian on the pitch" and didn't string us a long then say seeee ya bitches when higher ground was presented.

Freddy has grown up a lot. He still needs to grow, but at that age, everyone needs to continue to grow as a person and as a player.
When he came in during the Gold Cup camp. He had to earn his way and he grew up a lot. If I'm not mistaking Bradley recognized this and because of it he actually got PT in Gold Cup.
Then, he was awarded with the captain's armband for the Olympic Qualifying. The dude bleeds Red,White, and Blue. From what I've seen on the pitch. Boyd and Adu has shown the most emotion on the pitch. After Olympic Quals, both of those kids were crying. More Adu than anyone else. It shows he cares, but hopefully he isn't emotionally soft. I've always been known to bash Adu, a bit. However, he is finally doing what he is suppose to do to progress. Do I think there are better players in the midfield at this moment? Sure thing.
I wasn't for sure that he'd be a good roster addition for the Gold Cup because of his playing time situation and his overall form. But, he brought great offensive energy for the Gold Cup. I agree with you that he needs to work defensively. However, he is like DeMarcus Beasley. The dude is fast and has a motor but he does get pushed around a good bit.

Not really.
Freddy won't run past anybody. He'll dribble and trick his way around you. He's better in a tight space than anyone in the player pool right now.
If you give Beasley 30 yards ahead of him, he'll just tap it into space and zoom right past you. Even pushing 30, he was running right past people in Mexico last season.
Of course, CONCACAF opponents know what to expect from him, so they just push Beasley to the sideline, and don't let him burst into space toward the goal.
Two different kinds of players, IMO.
