Judging by the line ups the last few years, yes. It's gonna be about 80% of the same local New Orleans bands I can see any given weekend plus some electronic dance stuff I don't care about and maybe 1 or two bands I like playing at 4:00 in the afternoon. I really wanted to see Ozzy and Soundgarden the last two years but didn't go because there wasn't a single other band I was even remotely interested in seeing on those days. I would have gone last year if they put Mastodon on the same night as Soundgarden.
I feel ya. I felt the same way about the rancatours last year. I guess i just keep holding out the the lineup may be something i like.

I don't know if I agree with all that, but do for the most part. I like their newer stuff as much as the older albums. Warning, right in the middle, is my favorite. Regardless, they have stayed relevant and have been pumping out really good "power pop" songs for a very long time. I saw them three times on their last tour and all the shows were great.

I gave up last year on thinking Voodoo would get better. The promotors try to pass off flavor of the month EDM acts as note worthy additions to the festival. I'm sure that trend will continue.

Apparently last year's lineup suffered because of Stephen Rehage (the guy who runs Voodoo. Also and ex-LSU football player) had significant legal issues. I hope this year's lineup is better because I usually have a great time at Voodoo. Last year was the first time I missed it since Katrina.

Madonna is playing the NO Arena the Friday night of Voodoo and Deluna has Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters a month before. Good luck competing with all that.

Foo Fighters are the most overbooked, recycled "major" headliner out there

I'm sure it's gonna sell out and draw people away from Voodoo that night.

Green Day sucks dude. They are the most obnoxiously sold out band i can think of. Here they are when they started and when their music was worth a shit: Here they are after there success started to falter a little so they changed their image and became run of the mill commercial pussy music:

The only time I've seen Green Day live was for Saints-ATL 9.25.06. So I obviously have good memories from their show.

This is pretty funny on a couple of levels. If you don't think that what they were wearing and looking like early wasn't as much a "uniform" as they have on now, you are kidding yourself. That band was ambitious from day 1. The whole "sell out" thing is something that needed to die a long time ago. Punk was the most conformist little group on the planet. These guys just evolved. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I liked Dookie when it first came out and didn't think about them again until American Idiot. Since then, I filled in the rest and just about like it all. It isn't for everybody, but hating because of "selling out" is just wrongheaded IMO.

Bringing out the big guns, eh. I would argue they have become more British than Canadian. But the reality is, I don't think there is a good analogy for the way their career has tracked. They are just doing their own thing. Like it or not, but they are not an equivalent version of Nickelback. Does not compute.

If by "their own thing" you mean what every other commercially success full band like my chemical romance and panic at the disco are doing right now then yes i agree, they are very unique.

I have no issues with the actual band, but this is the truth.

Green Day supposedly sold out with Dookie, but I'm glad we're now moving the timeline back. Look, they are a pop punk band who crafts really good pop songs. They always have been this band, and I fail to see how that's horrible. Hell, the Ramones are a pop punk band, and people would never call them sellouts. And it's not like politics were new to Green Day. Gilman Street is a friggin' socialist collective. Their roots are incredibly political, so using their fame to turn out a political album seems pretty consistent with their whole career. Is their most recent album as good as Slappy or Kerplunk or Dookie? No. But most punk bands don't churn out their best work in their second decade. I'm just tired of people who have no punk credentials themselves saying Green Day isn't punk enough. Yeah, I didn't see you at the Rites of Spring show either. If Ian MacKaye wants to say Green Day isn't punk enough, I'll listen. But he doesn't give a shite.
