I've got this on my bucket list but would really like to go within the next 2 or 3 years. Who all has been and what did you kill? What is an average price for a bow hunt including airfare and taxidermy. I know it will vary just trying to get a good average. Thanks

I think cabela's lists several hunts with several outfitters on their website. Could give you a ballpark idea of what you will pay for what.

It really depends on what you want to hunt? It can be an expensive as you want, but bare bones for about a week with taxidermy, trophy fees and airfare you're looking at 6-8k

I went in 2005 to South Africa and shot six animals. Impala, gemsbok, blessbok, zebra, kudu, and a springbok. I stayed for two weeks. We also went bird hunting and yellowfin tuna fishing on the Indian Ocean.

I booked a trip to Mozambique/Botswana a few years ago and ultimately cancelled due to local political unrest. It wasnt a good time to be a white boy in the area.

I know several guys who have gone. The one resounding notion I get from everyone is that the cost of the hunt is always much higher than advertised. Bribes are essential to get things done, especially when transporting valuable items such as firearms and trophies.

The other not so hidden cost is taxidermy. Dip, pack and crate can be prohibitively expensive so do your homework. Most hunters I know say the taxidermists in SA suck, so its probably best to have the hides shipped back and mounted locally.

My friends hunt with Rann Safari's last year was packaged at $30K for a buffalo hunt, out the door pricing with taxidermy was closer to $55-65K. He had a great time and tagged two huge bulls, but he said the sticker shock was unbelievable.
