For me, D.C. is just a whole lot more interesting than the Mojave/Vegas. NV doesn't have anything close to the Mall. Talon Company and Super Mutants are a hell of a lot more fun than fiends. The Legion and NCR are alright, but they're just too spread out and sporadic.
Part of the allure of the Fallout series was not being spoonfed. You would find an obscure clue, and you would have to figure shite out.
That led to a huge and massive adventure, where your slightest step or misstep had huge ramifications in the endgame and in the ending sequences.
Fallout 1 & 2 are all about butterfly effect. NV has some of that.
Fallout 3 is just obvious. Every decision is obvious, and all ramifications are obvious and known. I think this is a Bethesda failure/hallmark.
I have never made a decision in Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, or Fallout 3, and wondered "did I make the right decision there?" or "I wonder what my decision will result in?"
I always new at the moment of truth.
Maybe that's just me. . .maybe it is my failing that I don't find such overtness appealing.

No, that's why Bethesda games such when it comes to creating characters and developing plot.

Pre-EA bioware writes the story alongside Obsidian. . .Bethesda does the world.

I don't even want to talk about them, they're dead to me.
Going from KOTOR to Dragon Age 2/ME3 is inexcusable.

EA has almost ruined gaming for me.
I was like, it's just Madden, at least NCAA is still fun...
then, It's just sports games, at least RPGs are still fun...

I lean on Rockstar and CD Projekt now.
