Goodell said in his ruling that the players violated Article 46 of the league's collective bargaining agreement. That means the punishments are tied to off-field activities and "conduct detrimental to the integrity and public confidence in the NFL," the league's news release said.
That's because there is NO evidence of the players doing what they are accused of doing on the field...NO F'ing Evidence!
...and is the locker room really "off the field"?

I don't care what Article 46 of the CBA says.
Article 43 cites language releasing all players from conduct in which the players engaged before August 4, 2011. What's the evidence that Vilma & Will Smith are being punished for from the 2011 season?
(Oh, and The Avengers is the best superhero movie I have ever seen! TDK is technically the best, but that was actually a crime drama that steered away from its comic book roots which could have survived without the Batman character cuz it could have worked just as easily as a Commissioner Gordon story. Whereas, the Avengers embraces its roots and it simply kicks all kinds of summer blockbuster arse.)

The said incidents occurred 2 years prior to the new CB agreement. Does this mean there would be an arbitrator or not since the charges are now?

I don't see how Goodell can cite this issue as off the field behavior. That should be related to substance abuse, legal problems, hittin their women, and other general stupid misdeeds. These charges are/were directly related to on the field football matters. He has over-stepped his bounds.
