I remember hearing a story about Mike Webster, the great center from the '70s Steelers. He basically ended up living in a car under a bridge towards the end of his life and when they did an autopsy after he died, the doctors found out that his body endured physical trauma equivalent to being in 25000 car accidents. Just an incredibly sad and disturbing story.
